Safe-D-Stop™ is the complete dive safety device. The carrying bag functions as a flotation device, dive flag marker, ascent/descent line and as a source of pure oxygen for the safety stop gas. The flotation bag is placed in the water at the dive site and can be tethered to a buoy, the dive boat or anchored to the ocean bottom by the descent line which can be attached to the 15 foot safety stop ladder. The bag is opened in the water and turned over to allow self deployment of the first and second stage regulators and the safety stop ladder, which remain suspended from the surface bag. The divers then make the dive as planned.
At the end of the dive, the divers swim to the already deployed safety stop latter at 15 feet. The oxygen pressure gauge monitors the available oxygen source. The divers switch from their air scuba source to the 100% oxygen supplied regulators and make the 3 to 5 minute safety stop breathing pure oxygen. At the end of the safety stop, the divers then switch back to their air scuba regulators and ascend slowly to the surface. Using 100% oxygen as the safety stop breathing gas allows the divers to maximize off gassing of nitrogen accumulated during the dive and thus reduce the risk of decompression illness or the “bends.” Safe-D-Stop™ can be left floating in the water to be used for subsequent dives at the site or the ladder, ascent line and regulators can be placed back in the flotation bag, zipped up and taken to shore or placed back on the dive boat to be taken to the next dive site.
